A perennial, tufted grass native to eastern and south-eastern Australia, Dichanthium sericeum features fine, silky leaves and slender flowering stems that produce small seed heads, typically flowering in spring and summer.
 
It thrives in well-drained soils across grasslands and open woodlands, preferring full sun. Silky Bluegrass is highly valued in revegetation projects and native pastures for its drought tolerance, ability to stabilise soil, and provision of habitat and food for native fauna.
