A robust, perennial sedge native to southern and eastern Australia, Ficinia nodosa forms dense, tufted clumps of cylindrical green stems with distinctive knobby flower heads, typically flowering from spring to summer.

It grows in a variety of habitats including coastal dunes, wetlands, and sandy soils, thriving in full sun and well-drained to moist conditions.

The Knobby Club-rush is valued in revegetation projects and native gardens for its ability to stabilise soil, provide habitat for wildlife, and enhance biodiversity in both coastal and inland landscapes.
