A perennial, tufted grass native to south-eastern Australia, Rytidosperma setaceum forms dense clumps with fine, bristle-like leaves and slender flowering stems. It typically grows in grasslands, open woodlands, and well-drained soils, preferring full sun.

Bristly Wallaby Grass is valued in revegetation projects and native gardens for its drought tolerance, soil-stabilising roots, and role in providing habitat and food for native fauna, supporting biodiversity in Australian landscapes.
